Why do I need to set "Enable Manufacturers Filter" true for Endless scrolling to work???

WHen hovering the categories with image list the images are incorrect size. Their origin is 50 x 38px but blown up on the page.  Possibly the error is using the "_50" image while the "_300" seems correct.
